November 15, 2016. A new concert series for children

November 15, 2016. A new concert series for children

Art-Brand together with the Manege Museum and Exhibition Association is launching a new concert series for children. The format of the concerts is just the thing: an unusual way of unveiling pieces of classical music that connects with the mindset of pre-school and younger school age children. In an easy-going playful atmosphere children will learn how to hear, appreciate and talk about classical music. The main principle guiding the concerts is to encourage real interaction and communication between the children and the artists. Host Sergey Astashonok, leader of the Romantic-Quartet, will deftly engage the children in a conversation about the music and its interpretation and also fashion a tale by collective storytelling. Favourite compositions of famous composers are featured in the concerts.
The first two concerts will take place on 4 December 2016 at noon and at 2pm at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall (Manege Square 1). For more information or to order tickets call +7 (903) 777-2332.

October 16, 2016. The Chopin series continues

October 16, 2016. The Chopin series continues

Rem Urasin and Alexei Barabanov are to be congratulated on making a fine start of the season at the Moscow Conservatory and on the continuation of the Chopin concerts traversing all the composer's works. The fifth concert in the series featured works composed from 1841 to 1843. Rem's inspired playing was truly brilliant, and the audience insisted on many encores.
The next Chopin series concert will take place on 4 December 2016. It offers a rare opportunity to survey the whole of the Polish composer's 20-year creative output. His songs, all written between 1827 and 1847, are filled with passion, hope and the yearning of an exile addressing his beloved homeland - and always with the everlasting love and heartfelt confessions that everyone in any era can respond to.

October 9, 2016. Season opening: Peter Laul at the Moscow Conservatory

October 9, 2016. Season opening: Peter Laul at the Moscow Conservatory

Art-Brand opened the new 2016/2017 concert season at the Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory with the ambitious new series Complete Piano Sonatas of Beethoven. Beethoven never regarded his 32 piano sonatas as a unified cycle, but for listeners of our generation their coherence is undeniable. When we hear the sonatas as a cycle, we are witness to the complete evolution of a master, from his youthful attempts to 'storm the heavens' to the most profound philosophical contemplation.
The seven concerts in this series are performed by Saint Petersburg pianist Peter Laul, and he makes them a remarkable artistic feat. The immensely difficult-perhaps even risky-programme for the first concert featured sonatas with rapid tempos in the finales that were an unrelenting challenge to musician and audience alike. Listeners were stunned by Beethoven's fantastic variability in a startling interpretation.

May 28, 2016. Hearts of Vision Chamber Orchestra for the first time in Moscow

May 28, 2016. Hearts of Vision Chamber Orchestra for the first time in Moscow

The chamber orchestra Hearts of Vision came to us from the South Korea after taking the whole world by storm. This ensemble consists entirely of visually impaired musicians. Because of this they work with the musical material in an absolutely exceptional way. They have spent thousands of hours transcribing the scores into Braille, memorizing the orchestral parts, as well as in individual and joint rehearsals. In Moscow famous Russian and Korean soloists performed with the orchestra: on violin Sergey Kravchenko, who is an Honoured Artist of Russia and professor of the orchestra department of the Moscow Conservatory; on cello Narek Hakhnazaryan, who won a gold medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition; and on piano Joo-Young Kim, who was the first Korean student at the Moscow Conservatory and a prize winner at the International Festival of Sergey Prokofiev Music in Moscow and at the 9th Paris Grand Piano Competition. Programme of concert included Overture to "Egmont" and Triple Concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven, Waltz of the Flowers by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Waltz from "Masquerade" by Aram Khachaturian, Waltz from Jazz Suite No.2 by Dmitri Shostakovich, selections from film and folk scores. Everything was unusual at this concert: the lightning, the absence onstage of music stands and even of a conductor. The Korean musicians approach the music so wholeheartedly that the hall is spellbound by their interpretation almost instantly. But the most important thing was that the orchestra conveys to the hall not only classical music, but also an amazing feeling of joy, optimism and confidence - everything that we strongly desire is possible.

March 21, 2016. Rem Urasin, Moscow Conservatory

CHOPIN concert series is devoted solely to the compositions of the great Polish composer and pianist. Chopin's music is augmented by materials that feature the composer's friends, family, and also his rivals. Between music pieces Alexei Barabanov read excerpts from Chopin's letters and memoirs of his contemporaries.
The next concert in the CHOPIN series will be given on the 21 of of June 2016 in the Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.

October 15, 2015. Chopin series by Rem Urasin

October 15, 2015. Chopin series by Rem Urasin

Rem Urasin gave the first concert in the CHOPIN series before an absolutely full house in the Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory on October 15th. The audience kept the musician on stage for another twenty minutes even after he had played an ambitious programme of early nocturnes, etudes and mazurkas, the Scherzo in B minor, the Ballade in G minor, the Andante spianato, and the Grande polonaise brillante. Between these pieces Alexei Barabanov read excerpts from Chopin's diaries and letters and brought out all the fine nuances in the texts. This CHOPIN concert series, which ranges from the first nocturnes to the last mazurka, is devoted solely to the compositions of the great Polish composer and pianist. These are not concerts in the usual sense because Chopin's music is augmented by materials that feature not only the composer's friends and family, but also his rivals. Each concert presents piano music of a particular period in Chopin's life so that the parallels between his personal circumstances and his musical output are revealed. The next concert in the CHOPIN series will be given on the 6th of December 2015 at the Moscow Conservatory.

October 8, 2014. Rise & Go! P.S.

We've done it for the second time! The tickets were sold for 389400 Rubles and 51300 Rubles were at the cash-box at the hall. This is not much, as we hoped to collect, but still this is something. We do believe that we could make life of a few children with cerebral palsy and their families at least a little bit easier. Thanks to the Central Military Orchestra, thanks to fabulous violinists Alena Baeva and Elena Revich, pianists Sergei Tarasov and Andrei Gugnin, clarinetist Igor Fedorov, cellist Sergei Suvorov, and one of the brightest talents of today's opera world, renowned mezzo Ekaterina Semenchuk. The evening was hosted by the famous theater and cinema actress - Oksana Mysina. All the soloists performed out of free will and free of charge.

Thanks to our partners - Moscow State Conservatory and Addresses of Mercy Charitable Foundation - to share this event and experience with us.
